Root.ED

An environmentally-conscious urban initiative in partnership with Alternatives

Root.ED is a community initiative offering Montreal’s urban youth ways to implement environmental and community mobilizing principles  that are PRACTICAL, ACCESSIBLE and RELEVANT to the needs of their culturally-diverse community. Root.ED is dedicated to the fostering of critical thinking development of marginalized youths by promoting self actualization and community inclusion at home and via overseas internships  presented through sustainable environmental and social  workshops in an inter-cultural setting.

Vision

Root.ED sees a future where classism and racism in the global environmental movement do not exist, ensuring that youth from all cultures and income levels participate in the construction of healthy,  aware and engaged communities.

Objectives

  • Provide urban racialized youth from Quebec with socio-environmental workshops where the content and resulting action plans are feasible and relatable to their cultural and financial circumstances
  • Educate, train and empower a group of young participants to experience living with a community partner overseas to experience how other communities engage themselves
  • Increase participants’ leadership skills, helping them become aware and engaged members of their community, fostering a new diverse generation of environmental leaders.

    Bonjour,

    merci,
